The Angst-ridden heartbreak and irreplaceable exaltation of Love has been one of the key themes in Crimson Boy’s songs right from their Post-Punk start, with signature tracks such as Pain For Claire / Tears of Betrayal / Always Alana / Hearts In Armour etc.

These new versions of Love Song and Here Are The Young Men (songs from 2017’s reformation album Street Gods and Neon Dogs) have been completely reworked and remixed, along with a luxurious & extended string-machine heavy Cinematic Mix, and the demo version of a new song in progress; My Wife Is A Synthesizer. This track captures the vibe of early post-punk’s raw & melodic electronica, but bedecked in a production sound circa 2022.

The futuristic textures and endless thrill of analog synths prevail in this material (prominently featuring the DSI Mopho X4 - a modern classic), along with old skool Beatbox Rhythm programmes & thick basslines. Andy Brown’s distinct vocals are known for their broad stylistic range - from the Punk / Industrial assault of Neon Boot Black to the Coldwave croon of I Will Sacrifice - and on Love Song we find him in Velvet mode…

It’s also the first CB Vinyl release since 1987’s Hearts In Armour EP, so there were grounds for a touch of opulence - limited edition Transparent Blood Red Crimson disc, heavy grade sleeve, and a double-sided insert.
